I suppose to be properly fair to all parties, a good amount of ALL of the parties’ policies would put them in the “joke party” category. But pretty much everything Colin Craig/the Conservatives say or do seems to cause me to involuntarily facepalm – in direct proportion to how much I know about that given topic… and not even to the point of “oh I can see why you think that, because of your philosophy, but it’s wrong because XYZ” but more like “How can you spend so many millions on politics without even trying to school yourself up even somewhat on this issue, even just trying to back up your prior views with plausible-sounding arguments.” So I think that puts them in a slightly different category to NZ First or even ACT. The Conservative Party and their ignorant populist views are against the democratic process, and so is taking them seriously. I chose to arbitrarily define it as: Big = consistently polling above 10%.
